La popularidad de estos espacios, impulsada por las tarjetas premium y una mayor competencia por brindar beneficios diferenciados entre empreas y aerol\u00edneas, llev\u00f3 a colapsos frecuentes y largas listas de espera, especialmente en aeropuertos con alto tr\u00e1fico.<\/p>\n<p>Se gener\u00f3 entonces una tendencia a m\u00e1s restricciones y m\u00e1s costos. American Express por ejemplo elev\u00f3 los requisitos de gasto y limit\u00f3 el acceso gratuito a invitados. Varios bancos internacionales ajustaron al mismo tiempo sus pol\u00edticas. En paralelo, las aerol\u00edneas empezaron a actuar. Se puede citar el ejemplo de Delta Air Lines, que elimin\u00f3 las visitas ilimitadas, fij\u00f3 topes anuales para sus clientes Sky Club y lanz\u00f3 lounges exclusivos para pasajeros Delta One. En los Estados Unidos, donde esta tendencia irrumpi\u00f3 con m\u00e1s fuerza, American Airlines y United Airlines ampliaron sus redes de salas VIP y desarrollaron espacios de categor\u00eda superior para viajeros de larga distancia en cabinas premium.<\/p>\n<p>El acceso a las salas se convirti\u00f3 en un beneficio estrella para las tarjetas de viaje de alta gama, los operadores advierten que la infraestructura actual no alcanza para absorber la creciente demanda.\u00a0 El desaf\u00edo es entonces mantener la exclusividad sin perder atractivo comercial.\u00a0 Los analistas coinciden en que las restricciones responden a una tensi\u00f3n dif\u00edcil de equilibrar. Las salas VIP se volvieron un beneficio clave para atraer clientes, pero la masificaci\u00f3n deterior\u00f3 la experiencia que promet\u00edan.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNing\u00fan operador quiere que sus lounges est\u00e9n tan desbordados como las \u00e1reas p\u00fablicas del aeropuerto\u201d,<\/em>\u00a0agrega Henry Harteveldt. Por eso, la industria est\u00e1 elevando el costo de acceso y endureciendo criterios para garantizar mayor comodidad, incluso si eso implica limitar uno de los beneficios m\u00e1s valorados por los viajeros frecuentes. Para los pasajeros, mientras tanto, se concreta un cambio de paradigma.
